Marine Centrifugal Fans Receive CCS Type Approval

BarkerBille has obtained Type Approval from China Classification Society (CCS) for a broad range of marine centrifugal fans manufactured at our Chinese factory, BarkerBille Fans Manufacturing (Ningbo) Co., Ltd.

The approval covers 28 BarkerBille fan series for use on ships, ranging from smaller centrifugal fans to large industrial fan designs with capacities of up to 400,000 m³/h, pressures up to 35,000 Pa and motor sizes up to 600 kW, depending on the fan series.

The CCS Type Approval confirms that BarkerBille Fans Manufacturing (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. has the capability and production conditions required to manufacture the covered marine centrifugal fans in accordance with the applicable CCS requirements.

What is CCS Type Approval?

China Classification Society (CCS) is a classification society providing classification and technical services to the international shipping industry.

CCS Type Approval confirms that a product type has been assessed against the applicable CCS requirements for its intended marine application. For shipowners, shipyards, designers and equipment suppliers, type-approved equipment provides documented assurance that the product design and manufacturing arrangements have been assessed according to the relevant classification requirements.

For BarkerBille, the Type Approval covers a broad range of marine centrifugal fans intended for installation on ships and confirms that BarkerBille Fans Manufacturing (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. has the capability and production conditions required to manufacture the covered products in accordance with the applicable CCS requirements.

Broad Range of Approved Fan Series

The approved range includes many of BarkerBille’s established centrifugal fan types, providing considerable flexibility when selecting fans for different duties and operating conditions onboard ships.

The Type Approval covers 28 BarkerBille fan series, including ATS, AT, LT, VSB, TS, CAT/CATP, HT/HTP, MAT/MATP, HAT56/H56P, DHAT56/DH56P, DST20/D20P, MT/MTP, HN/HNP, DAT/DATP, DST40/D40P, DST56/D56P, STS/STSP, HST/HSTP and VB/VBP.

Across the approved series, the maximum covered ratings extend to:

• Airflow: up to 400,000 m³/h
• Pressure: up to 35,000 Pa
• Motor size: up to 600 kW

The exact approved operating range depends on the individual fan series.

The Certificate of Type Approval was issued by CCS Zhejiang Branch on 6 January 2026 and is valid until 5 January 2031.

For projects requiring CCS product certification, the individual fan is subject to the applicable CCS product inspection requirements before a Marine Product Certificate is issued.
