BarkerBille has recently delivered a custom-designed flue gas fan for a waste-to-energy plant at a combined heat and power (CHP) station in Denmark.

The new fan replaces an older unit from another supplier, which had caused repeated operational issues and unplanned downtime.

To ensure long-term reliability and stable operation, BarkerBille engineered a tailor-made fan built specifically to match the plant’s operating conditions and installation requirements. The result is a high-performance fan that supports both improved uptime and reduced maintenance.

Technical Specifications:

  • Airflow: 71,500 m³/h at 10,000 Pa (static pressure)

  • Flue gas temperature range: 30°C to 80°C

  • Motor: Frequency-controlled 315 kW IE4 motor

  • Design: Custom-built for direct 1:1 replacement of the existing fan

Due to the relatively low flue gas temperatures, condensation poses a significant risk for corrosion and pitting. To address this, all components exposed to the gas — including the fan housing and impeller — are manufactured in pickled and passivated stainless steel (EN 1.4462). In addition, the fan housing is insulated to minimise condensation and reduce noise emissions.

Special attention has also been given to condensate management. This includes the use of carefully selected flexible connections and a custom-designed drainage solution at the fan outlet. Furthermore, the fan is equipped with oil-lubricated bearings, which help extend service intervals and lower maintenance demands.

This delivery highlights BarkerBille’s ability to develop efficient and durable fan solutions tailored to the customer’s process — even under challenging environmental conditions.
